Research interest

  • My research interests have been changing during recent years several times for various reasons. First of all as an ecologist, the most multidisciplinary discipline, I had a high potential to avoid focusing on a single subject! Second, as a typical developing country scientist there is little thing to do to focus on more specific areas of research. For the same reason I established Razi University Centre for Environmental Studies in 2004. Through this organization and with the help of my colleagues and postgraduate students I had the opportunity to take up several international, national and regional research projects. These together with over 70 postgraduate theses pooled within the broad area of “environmental science”. In this very broad area of research interest we can see a good deal of conservation biology of rare and endangered species through research projects sponsored by IUCN and other international organization, local and regional environmental problems. In this direction I had the opportunity to conduct joined research projects with my colleagues in overseas university such as Professor Holt at Institute of Zoology (London) affiliated to Cambridge University, Professor Pasmans at Ghent University in Belgium and currently with Professor Preziosi from Manchester University. There has also been a joint research project, as a research project, for one PhD student from Razi University with two colleagues from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical sciences Brno, Czech Republic (Dr Siroky) and Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovac Republic (Dr Mikulicek).
